Are you ready for the “Welcome Meeting”

What is a “Welcome Meeting”?

The Welcome Meeting is the first video call and face-to-face meeting with your American teacher.

It is an important event, because you will learn how to log into your Dual Diploma platform, what its basic functions are, and how to organize your study in the best way possible.

Participating at the “Welcome Meeting” is mandatory, so write it down on your calendar and make sure you can attend! The meeting lasts approximately 1 hour, we suggest that you stay connected until the end so you can take note of the instructions for your first homework assignment that you will need to submit right after the video call. This assignment will be the first graded activity in your course, so make sure you start on the right foot! If you have any doubts or need further clarifications on the assignment, you can always contact the teacher by email or during the open office hours listed under their digital signature.

Does it require some kind of preparation?

No specific preparation is required, but we are sure that you have some questions or some curiosities about the course. This is why we suggest that you write all your doubts down before the video call with your American teacher. The Welcome Meeting will not simply be an illustration of the online platform and of the study expected for the next months, but also an opportunity for discussion and sharing.

Which tools do I need to participate?
In the invitation email that you receive from you teacher, you will notice that there are a few necessary tools to take part in this call without incurring in technical difficulties. You will need:

  • A desktop or laptop computer
  • A good internet connection
  • A microphone and speakers (they can be integrated in the pc or you can plug in a headset with a microphone.

On the meeting day, the only thing you have to do is turn on your computer, open the invitation email and click on the zoom link that your teacher sent you. Right after clicking, you will have to accept the activation of the program: the access to your Welcome Meeting will be direct and immediate. During this phase, if you find any difficulty or complication, we recommend you contact the teacher immediately. They will be able to guide you and give you the best advice to make sure you can participate in this important video call.
If you realize that you won’t be able to connect on the designated date and time, please write an email directly to your teacher to let them know. As an alternative, your teacher will arrange a new meeting for another day (from Monday to Friday) and time (always in late afternoons/evenings).
During the Welcome Meeting, the teacher will show you how to have access to the online platform and will give you your login credentials. Take notes and in case of doubts don’t hesitate to ask your teacher.

I can’t participate on the day and time suggested by the teacher. What should I do?
When you receive your Welcome meeting invitation email, you might realize that the date and time does not work for you. No worries, just write back to your teacher and explain your problem. The teacher will schedule a new Welcome Meeting and will suggest a new day and time for you to attend.
Both for the Welcome Meeting as well as for all future Live Sessions in the course, you should always let your American teacher know your activities and possible impediments. In fact, your collaboration with the teacher will help you organize both the Italian and the Dual Diploma study, allowing you to get the best results with little effort.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you the best of luck as you begin this journey! :-)
